Four Trim Options for the 2021 Chevy Colorado
One significant change from last year's model is that the base trim is no longer in the picture. Instead, the 2021 lineup starts with the Colorado WT and ends with the impressive ZR2. Each truck is differentiated by unique grille styling, with the most significant change being the futuristic-looking ZR2. While the 2021 Colorado WT and LT trim packages drive best on paved roads, the Z71 and ZR2 come equipped with capable, smooth-feeling off-road suspensions. For those looking to maximize off-road potential, the ZR2 has increased ground clearance and a Multimatic DSSV Damping System, making it a truck designed for the less beaten paths in Alabama.
Three Available Powertrains
The 2021 Chevy Colorado has three available powertrains, allowing you to customize your truck based on your needs. The base engine model is a 200-horsepower 2.5L 4-cylinder engine capable of towing 3,500lbs. If you need an affordable truck with a larger towing capacity, the available 308-horsepower 3.6L DOHC V6 engine is capable of towing an impressive 7,000lbs. To round things out, Chevrolet is once again offering a diesel engine to maximize the trucks towing ability. While the available Duramax 2.8L Turbo-Diesel engine has only 181 horsepower, the engine packs a whopping 369lb.-ft. of torque, making it capable of towing 7,700lbs. On top of being the most capable engine for towing, the 2.8L Turbo-Diesel is also the most fuel-efficient of the three, making it an attractive upgrade for most drivers. With an EPA-estimated fuel-efficiency rating of 28mpg on the highway and 19 in the city, the diesel engine delivers an impressive 23.5mpg combined. The diesel engine is also great for off-roading, making it a match made in heaven for the popular ZR2 trim.
